If you are dealing with an addiction, you can get all the therapy in the world, but in my own experience, the only thing that can really help with addictions is a support group.

Short documentary on video game addiction.

I'm a pretty hardcore gamer and I admit that sometimes I can play a certain game for hours without end. I even pretend to be sick and leave school just to get a couple head shots in Gears of War. But could that be classified as an addiction. In my opinion, not under any circumstance could therapy be needed. But what about your opinion? The truth: as long as the game is not World of Warcraft, no! Really, i play lots of videogames, upwards of 15 hours a week. My family said i need therapy until they found out that i was in a clan and was good enough to the point that i was making money playing. I feel that videogames are an addiction when they are played in excess, until you start making money playing them, then it is a job just like everyone else. Really, i know people say that kids get violent over videogames, but my brother also would get violent when he would lose a basketball game...does that mean that he was addicted to it? I doubt a therapist would treat someone for that. Video games get trashed on because they are new to society still in comparison to other things and people actually enjoy them.

Hello. I am a producer on a new show for a major cable network that emphasized Entertainment, the Arts and Education. We are doing a show in conjuncture with a well-established, world-famous OCD Center here in Los Angeles.

We are looking for people for our show with addictions, OCD, anxiety, hoarding or extreme fears. We specifically need people who are at the end of their rope, and need help soon or their lives will be negatively affected.

I am a 42 year old that loves video games so much that I am afraid of losing my job as a state employee,pretty cush/slack job and I can hide pretty good throughout the day to get out of work. My friends say that can't fire me because i am with the state union. I have several co-workers that do the same thing and we cover for each other and lie about each other hard work:) I play on my laptop at work for at least half the day and then nap throughout the day at work since I played the entire night before. My husband and kids have left me since I cannot think of anything but playing video games. Is there some medication or therapy to help me?.... Oh yeah and my doctor just diag me with type 2 diabetieses.
