For a research paper, I am looking into the controversial effects of video games have on people. More specifically, violence and video game addiction.
I am having trouble looking for some reliable sources. Can anyone please tell me if there are any creditable websites, books, study statistics, or newspaper articles that I can look at?
I would greatly appriciate it since I am quite curious about this topic.
Also check for educational journals at the library. This study has been done repeatedly. Ask your librarian unless you know how to get to the e-journals.

It's for my english class. I need a book where the character has a gaming addiction; doesn't have to be video games, just some game. It doesn't have to be the main topic in the story but there has to be something about the addiction in it. Any help? I can't find anything
Just looked at the "No Limit" book, it looks perfect for the project that I'm doing, but no one around where I am sells that book. I need it soon, any other suggestions?
"No Limit" by Pete Hautman is about a teenager who plays poker and discovered that he likes it. Worse yet, he likes it, he's good at it, and he wins. But in the winning, he loses his girlfriend, his best buddies, and his relationship with his divorced parents. In the end, he wins big. And he sits there with his winnings, alone.
It is a great book. My sophomore class read it and then did some research on teenage gambling. With the Tribal Casinos in our state, many students want to go and play tournament poker. This books shows the dark side of playing. There is more to lose than money.

I'm currently in high school 10th grade and i think i had been addicted to videogames since i was in 8th or 7th grade. I would usualy go home at 3 right after school and play for 3 hours straight till 6. I usually start my homework at 7:30 but I tend to go on Warcraft 3 and start playing. However, I'm also working on my math usually while playing. Since I tend to care about winning my game more than homework at the time, I often look at the back of my textbook and copy the answrs. But when the test comes I fail it. I know this is a bad habit and my grades are slipping now. What is the real problem my gaming or my habit of copying the back of the book? I don't know how to solve my ways, so please give me suggestions. Thanks >.<
I wouldn’t quit call it an addiction. As most high school students care more about fun the school work. I used to do it all the time, because of one simple reason, games are more fun and hold your attention longer. As for your study habits, do what I do. Remove yourself from all environmental distractions. Go do your homework some place where there isn’t a TV, computer, cd player, etc… This should help you focus a little more
Even when I have something really important that I have to do (homework being the main one) I'll often times choose the controller over the book. It has become really detrimental to my grades and life in general. Please help! I need to break the addiction!

bBook/b Review on bVideo Game Addiction/b « Weissbluth Method
Recently, I have been very interested by these stories originating in China about “Internet Addiction.” From the news items, it appears to be a serious problem there and I was curious to learn more about it. I went online and typed in “internet addiction” and was directed to a book called, “Video Games and Your Kids: How Parents Stay in Control” (Cash and McDaniel). Addiction medicine is a topic that is relatively not emphasized in pediatric training so I decided to pick up the book.
The book’s focus was gaming addiction which was the closest I could find to internet addiction in my search. I assumed that enough gaming took place on computers to be relevant for the topic and also that the mechanism of gaming and internet addiction were similar. The organization of the book starts by defining gaming addiction and its processes. It proceeds to explain addiction as it relates to varying age groups. The language of the book reflects the author’s goals of treating addiction: They use words like “withdrawal” and “intervention”. Instead of describing “adaptability,” they use the phrase “frustration tolerance” (which I liked a lot). The use of addiction terminology helped me appreciate this as a medical phenomenon despite how socially accepted internet and video games are. However, I was more skeptical of the discussions on “love addiction” as it relates to meeting others while playing World of Warcraft

Nevertheless the 360 has some awesome features and games, and with the imminent release of one of the best franchises in Splinter Cell Conviction the 360 looks very attractive ...... from a gaming perspective. Equally as attractive as the PS3 with services and exclusives. But from a hardware perspective $450(AUD) for the 360 Elite is nowhere near the comparative value, considering my original points. are both great systems in their own regards. I dont understand why people are so fiercely defensive over a company that exists only to take your dollars. Perhaps it's part of the human psyche to take sides. I say let the companies bicker with each other over why their toy is the best and (if you're well off enough) take advantage of the benefits each have to offer. Im not talking about peace or sunshine and lollipops. It's called being optimistic and enjoying things for their strengths instead of what you obviously like to do: take things for granted with a pessimistic attitude. I suppose...
