I'm 20 years old, and I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years. We don't live together right now, but we are considering that option for 2009. The only problem is that I think he may be addicted to video games, mainly World of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy. He plays video games every day when he gets off work till the time he goes to bed, and even when we are on the phone, he ignores me sometimes because he's busy playing the game, he wont even hear what i have to say. I'm always so afraid he's going to fall in love with a "gamer girl" in one of his games, and he's told me before that he wishes him and I had that in common. I'm just not into video games. I want to know if any of you have any advice for me, if you've been through this, or even from a game addicts perspective, help me understand this and how to get through this. Also are there any websites for women who have boyfriends or husbands who are addicted?
I play World Of Warcraft and I understand your problem. Most folks are on that game 24/7 and that's because it is almost an unending "quest" for better things.
You can find out his details for the game and use parental controls to limit the time in which he can play each day. However, this is a little far fetched and I would suggest that your best option is just to talk to him and tell him how you feel about it.
However, I would not delete his games like some suggest, this will just make him angry and annoyed that you have deleted his "work" which he has to show for endlessly playing games.
