For a research paper, I am looking into the controversial effects of video games have on people. More specifically, violence and video game addiction.
I am having trouble looking for some reliable sources. Can anyone please tell me if there are any creditable websites, books, study statistics, or newspaper articles that I can look at?
I would greatly appriciate it since I am quite curious about this topic.
Also check for educational journals at the library. This study has been done repeatedly. Ask your librarian unless you know how to get to the e-journals.

World of Warcraft Addicts to Receive In-game Counseling
For many years now, there has been a push to put "game addiction" on the lists of both the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the International Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. In 2007, the American Psychological Association reviewed whether video game addiction should be added to the new DSM for 2012. They concluded that there was not enough research or evidence to say that video game addiction was a disorder.
In a report from a European news outlet , Dr. Richard Graham, a consultant psychiatrist from the Tavistock Centre in London, is planning to provide in-game therapy services to young gamers who have become addicted to World of Warcraft.
Dr. Graham states in the article, "...youngsters who are spending so much time playing these games that they have lost touch with the real world. Some players were so addicted to these massively multiplayer online games that they played them for up to 16 hours a day, leading them to neglect their social lives and education."
