I play a lot of Playstation 2 at night, sometimes up until 4:30 in the morning when I have to go to school at 10 a.m., I should be studying but I'm on the Playstation 2 trying to beat stages, missions, etc. I'm trying to take school more seriously, but it's hard sometimes. I don't know if I want to sell my games because it keeps me from going out driving around wasting gas, and buying things I don't really need. Should I sell the Playstation 2 and games because it's so addictive? I feel that it's going to keep me from being successful in life all because of these measly video games. It's counterproductive in other words and hinders my progress towards school.

It's good that you've realised of that, but I don't think it might be a problem. Perhaps if you do first your assignments and then play as much as you want, but always take your duties first after all.

My boyfriend loves to play video games and sometimes he stays in front of tv or pc 24hours without sleep, that's a problem xD

This CAN be a serious problem and may affect health, work and schoolwork. What are some possible solutions?

When I was young, my dad would always tell me that the amount of time I spent on the computer, I'd have to spend double the time doing homework or practicing my maths. For example, I spend 2 hours on the computer, later I would have to spend 4 hours doing work! It often worked because I hated maths.

there are withdrawal conflicts so cant directly take it away. but it affects them more indirectly as in health so whats the solution

Treat yourself to play video games after you have done a certain thing. For example, say after I am done with my homework (or chores, or whatever) I will play video games.
Make playing video games a treat (something you do to reward your self) no a chore (something that you have to and do every single day).

This is all types of video games. I used to be addicted to gaming, and whenever I come back to play (When it's one of those days where you can't go anywhere) a game, I get really addicted again. Can anyone find a solution that doesn't require stopping to play these games completely?

I love playing online video games on my computer, but I play over(my parents tell me to stop but I don't)a lot. I know I should stop but for some reason I just have to keep on playing. Why are they so addictive and can someone help me make my addiction go away?

I don't know why it's so addicting but I was addicted to it myself for a few years.

eventually i cut off my internet access and went cold turkey, it was hard but I got through it.

I suggest you move your PC into a family room, get it out of the bedroom where you'll always be tempted.

the hard part is if you're like me, all your friends are online too, so it's harder to quit, try to organise a day with them outside of the house, like to the movies or go paintballing.

if you really do want to quit talk to your parents about it, they'll be able to help you too.

try chaning your net access to dialup speeds, that'll put a choke on online gaming
