My little brother, 8 is ALWAYS playing video games. My parents refuse to set limits on how long he can play. I feel as though he is neglected from my family. He only invites friends over who play the game, toontown. Once there over they both go into 2 different rooms & play the game. he has recently quit sports teams to play this game. When he wakes up its the first thing he does. Before he goes 2 sleep it’s the last thing he does. When we are in the car he plays portable video games. One day, I tricked him to exiting this game and the outcome was worse than a temper-tantrum. He screamed for about 30 seconds, roaring words he shouldn’t even know. Then proceeded to scratch my neck vigorously. If I didn’t push him away, he would have seriously injured me.I have confronted him about his addictions and he refused to stop.
I feel like I am loosing one of my best friends. How do I break his addiction besides setting limits and confrontation?
Thank you
Your parents are the adults and they NEED to set some time limits and rules and serious consequences if the rules arent followed. Ive allowed my son way too much time playing video games and he wouldnt even do the simplest chores and wouldnt want to participate in family time. And talk about throwing tantrums when he has to do those few simple chores before getting on to play.Video games have turned my son into rude, thoughtless, inconsiderate, temper tantrum throwing young man and Im ready to lay down the law because of that. Please get your parents to notice his attitude before its too late like I did. I am finally cutting down his time and making sure he does his chores but so far its been hard and I sure do regret not stepping in sooner to limit the video games.

Any ideas?
Put your game console and games away in the closet.
My boyfriend and I play Final Fantasy, but he is addicted to it, he plays ALL day long. If he has a day of he plays as soon as he wakes up until he passes out on the couch, and on the days he does work, since he works afternoons he palys when he wakes up until he leaves, and he gets back on it when he comes home. I am so sick of this, we do not have an intimate relationship anymore and I feel that it is because of the game, anytime I bring it up he says he doesnt care about the game he just does it to pass time...well to me thats alot of time passing. Any help would be welcome.
Thanks in advance for the helpful comments.
PS - Leaving him is not an option, I want to know how to fix this not how to run away from it.
Do not take that for an answer. I have the same problem, I showed my dad a really cool computer game and he is glued to it. I can not get him to go back to work or do anything around the house. Do your boyfriend a favor and save him. My father does not know much about computers so I can just remove the game which I am bound to do. Let him know the amount of time he is spending on it. Although i have tried this myself and it doesn't exactly work i assure you. Video game addictions die off but sometimes it can takes over a year.... (was addicted to eve-online for 18 months) If you are brave take the game away but be ready its like taking cocain from a coc addict.
its so anoying,
like i wanna break up with him for it
talk to him about it, there's no better solution
Figure this out, does it give you any ACTUAL pleasure??
OIC censors bvideo game/b depicting Muhammad « Creeping Sharia
Unreported incident. “ Faith Fighter ” is an online video game featuring various religious figures in combat, including Muhammad. It attracted considerable attention and controversy, but was removed after the Organization of the Islamic Conference [OIC] threatened the game’s producers.
The American television channel G4 describes itself as “the one destination on television that feeds your addiction for the latest must-have tech gadgets, web culture and video games.” It was not surprising, therefore, when it ran a 45-second “Indie Games” spot about “Faith Fighter” during a commercial break of the premier episode of the show “Web Soup” on June 7, 2009.
The brief spot summarized the game and its controversial nature, and the announcer, Kevin Pereira, mentioned the playable characters by name, noting that one could play as God, Jesus, Buddha, Ganesha and Budai....
Disabled Computer User Recovers using Active Release Technique b.../b
This is episode 2 in an ongoing series. Watch watch episode 1 here .
Here is a story about Linas, his disability, struggle through adversity, search for help, and eventual recovery.
Linas struggled with repetitive strain injuries for years. He first injured himself by playing the guitar too zealously at the age of 20 years old. Then, when he used his computer, he was affected by what he calls “a rock in a shoe” effect. By this he means that due to his injury, he found himself changing his technique at the computer. Then, by either taking anti-inflammatories or simply pushing himself through the pain, he allowed his injuries to become so severe, he couldn’t shake people’s hands, turn a page in a book, or even text message. He had to discontinue his college career and go on disability.
The next 6 years included seeking treatment from many different types of doctors, some of which were at UCLA Medical Center, arguments with his father, depression, hopelessness and frustration. At one point, his father even kicked him out of the house and he was forced to live on the street.
