My husband is in rehab for opiate addiction...cyboxin?
Beautiful Grounds - Michael's House

I heard about a new medication i think it is called cyboxin or something like that to treat lortab addiction. Does anyone know anything about this drug? Or where I can find more information on it??
any help is soo appreciated!!
Thank you

You got the drug name right.

Supposedly it contains an ingredient (neutralizer) that prevents people from getting any results, such as a high or energy rush, if they take other opiates while they are taking it. I think this also applies to lortab addiction.

Since it is an opiate, that just does not have the same side effects as other opiates, it also prevents withdrawals. But yes, it is still an opiate and will show up on such tests as one.

It is used as an alternative to Methadone. Some people get nothing from it and some say it is a miracle drug.

opiate addiction?
Waterfall Pool - The Canyon Drug Rehab Treatment Center

When a patient leaves rehab and enters outpatient, do you put them on Methadone as a precautionary measure to prevent relapse, or do you put them on it after they have relapsed and/or failed a drug test?

Also how long does it take for the results of the drug test to come back? And do patients get them on site or in the mail?

methadone is given to help with the withdrawl symptoms. if you get out of rehab(28 days) you should have already been through the withdrawl phase. urine tests only take 2-3 days to come back depending on where they get sent..you probably have to ask whoever asked you to take the drug test what the results were/are....dont take methadone if you dont absolutley have to...its just something else to get addicted to...stick it out..as the days go by it gets easier. One day at a time!-If that dont work for you then go one hour at a time...it will get better/easier

What do you think about using methadone for opiate addiction?
Relax Poolside - Michael's House

It works wonderfully for my herion addiction and I don't want to go off of it since I know I'd immediately start using again. So many people consider it a "heroin substitute". However, I DO NOT get high on it and it is medically controlled so when taken correctly, there is little risk of an overdose. Not to mention all the awful things that go along with heroin addiction like the risk of contaminated needles, drugs laced with deadly substances, doing illegal things to get your "fix", and the fact that you will eventually end up dead or in prison. The problem is that I still have problems with alcohol and cocaine and methadone DOESN'T help with those addictions. I want to get help for all my substance problems but almost all rehabs are VERY AGAINST Methadone. I don't want to be on Methadone the rest of my life. I will eventually wean myself off (VERY SLOWLY) so that I don't get sick (it is addictive like heroin). Any thoughts about this? Please be kind. This is rough!

I'm not really sure if you can mix it with the methadone or not but Revia (Naltrexone) can help with the cravings for both opiates and alcohol. You may want to ask the clinic where you get the methadone.

And go to an NA and AA meeting. You can find local meetings at www.aa.org and www.na.org

One day at a time.

What can I do about my opiate addiction?
Location, Location, Location - Michael's House

I'm physically and psycologically addicted to pain killers. I can't stop taking them, I don't want to stop taking them and that is a problem. I don't want to be dependent on them to get me through the day. I suffer from anxiety and also OCD and when I take these pain killers I feel normal. I feel happy and I'm not anxious or pulling my hair out (I have trichotillomania). I know that I'm addicted and that they are not good for me. The problem is I don't want to stop taking them. They make me feel good. What can I do to break this habit, besides going to rehab? Any suggestions? Please don't be mean, I feel bad enough already.
Btw I am on medication for the anxiety and the OCD. I take Xanax and Celexa

Hi, I am a recovering heroin addict. I have been clean for a little over a year. I started out on weed and eventuelly pain killers. I finally got hooked on to heroin for 4 years. Heroin and most pain killers are the same. all are opiates. A good friend of mine tried everything to get clean. Hundreds of differnt things. There are only a few ways that I have seen work. I kicked and screemed about thr thought of going to a rehab. How humiliating HuH? But when all of my family including my wife had lost trust in me and I was facing 30 felonies, I went to treatment. It was the best thing I did. I could name a million reasons why I didn't want to go. But if you end up dead or behind bars, all of those reasons don,t matter. I went to a 28 day treatment and ended up staying for 90 days. Mostly out of fear of using again. Now A good friend of mine went to a suboxin clinic and got clean and attends NA and AA meetings. The problem isn't the drug use. The problem is our heads. The depression, anxiety, coping with everyday life. Drugs are how I self Medicated. Then drugs caused me more problems. I once felt hopless. Crying on my way to the dealers house. Crying because I wanted to quit and couldn't. Please don't give up. I feel better today than I can ever recall. Here are the crucial steps to recovery. Meetings, OPEN MIND, And get a sponsor to help you work the twelve steps. The twelve steps are what is going to clean out all of the bullshit in your head. Anxiety etc. Go to Na high and say Hi I am a addict. I am still using And want to stop. Cry, let it all out. People there understand. They will help you. Don't be shy or stubborn Like I was. Or too proud. Not everyone has to go through the stuff that I went through to get clean. Ans it will get worse. I have friends dead. I have friends in prison. You are welcome to e-mail me anytime. marty_1194@yahoo.com My heart goes out to you. I know the hopless despair. I know what hell is.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCES with Methadone and Opiate addiction.. please!?
The Estate - Michael's House

I am 19 and about to come off of a 1 year opiate addiction. (Percocet, Hydrocodone) I was taking AT LEAST 10-14 percocet or hydrocodone (depending on strength) each time (bout 2-4 times a day)
I have told my family and we have all decided to put me in Rehab. and thank goodness my family is going to pay for it. I would be on the streets in another month if I kept on.
Anyways...
Will it be easy to start off with Methadone detox? Has anyone gone through this before? What Happend?

Thanks A Lot!!

I have never been through this but have an opinion. If it were me, I'd go "cold turkey" in a medical detox if needed. It takes just 3-5 days to get most substances out of your system. I would not continue with putting more drugs in your body (Methadone). You need to be drug free, make it happen. Best wishes with your recovery, you can do it. God bless.

Anyone who has ever suffered an illness or serious injury has the potential to become addicted to opiate painkillers. There are also people out there who experiment with street drugs like heroin and have the potential to become addicted. Opiate drugs flood the brain with "feel-good" chemicals and if you keep taking them every day and develop tolerance to them, then eventually you will need to take opiate drugs just to feel normal and avoid being sick. Not taking the medication and feeling the onset of these uncomfortable feelings is known as withdrawal.

So what typically happens when the opiate addict encounters these feelings of withdrawal is that they will run back to their drug of choice and start using again. This makes it very difficult to break out of the cycle of addictive using and get back to any sort of normal life. This is further complicated if people have chronic pain issues that they are trying to deal with while avoiding the use of opiates. In...

    Living a Death Sentence – Part 1 | Drug bRehab/b Blog

Thousands of Canadian citizens are suffering from a horrible and agonizing condition, which in many cases leads to death. I have witnessed and experienced this pain for decades and suffered deeply. If not already dead, they are barely surviving with hospitalizations, medical treatments and the morgue being their final resting place. Nearly eight months ago I was rushed to hospital where my heart stopped twice and I was brought back to life. I spent nine days in the hospital cardiac ward with around the clock care and administered powerful medications to keep me alive.

This was my eighth ambulance trip to hospital in less than one year. Three of my friends were not so lucky that same year. They all died a horrible, senseless death, and these deaths were preventable! Not only were these deaths preventable, tens of thousands more could avoid this pain and suffering if drug addiction were addressed in an objective manner with compassion for human life and dignity.
