Methamphetamine Addiction & Recovery: Will my metabolism ever be normal again?
Master of Puppets

I gained about 35 lbs in 3 weeks after I quit. Its been 9 months and I've been dieting religiously. I know for certain that my metabolism is seriously screwed up. I am worried that it will never be the same. If anyone has personal experiences with this, please share

I stopped using in 1995, and also experienced weight-gain. I returned to my normal weight about one year later. I don't know if any of this means my "metabolism" changed, or if it was just a change in lifestyle.

In my experience, however, dieting isn't very helpful. You'll need to start some sort of exercise. Try doing something active that you actually enjoy, and you'll be more likely to stick with it.

Good luck with your recovery!

What are some things one may experience when getting off of & recovering from an addiction to methamphetamine?
heal yourself (for bobby)

It's very painful to look at how this drug has negatively impacted everyone in the addict's circle of friends and family. I'm feeling that recovery will be both challenging and rewarding for the crystal meth addict. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, strength and hope.

Feeling like you cant function right, feeling empty and like something is missing will be there. Also some depresion, mood issues posibly. Cravings for it will be awfull but after a while they will lesson. If you went to a rehabilitaion center then you are usually able to go one a week or so, that is very helpfull and you get lots of support and encouragement. Do that its great. It will be hard but eventually you will be in controll of your life again. Ive been in recovery now for 6months and i am so happy this person decided to quit, its a really good thing. Good luck and i wish the best for them. Have lots of faith in yourself!
