step brother may be using meth?

I recently went home for mother's day and saw my 41 year old stepbrother. I hadn't seen him in 9 months since the death of my stepfather. Anyways, he was 60 pounds thinner, his face was sunken and dry and he was having an abscessed tooth and got antibiotics from the local clinic. Those signs all point to meth addiction. I do know he was addicted to herion in the 80s and he said he cleaned up. I don't really know that much about my step-brother as I don't seem him but once a year, but it concerns me that he could be an addict. Especially around my mother who lives alone now. He doesn't work much because he has "vertigo" and he has diabetes and hepititis C from his drug use years ago. Could all his symptoms be a sign of those deseases or of meth use? His 18 year old son recently got busted for pot and is in front of the judge this week. I care about them because they are family and I wonder what I can do, short of confrontation -he walks out the door when confronted about anything.Advice?

This is a very delicate matter. I think that your step brother can be an addict of meth, seeing the symptoms you explain in your question. And I tell you: ask for help and advice in a support group. Also, you personally can only support him, pray for him and give him love, cause he won't change himself if he really doesn't want it, though he have all the help in the world. But the Holy Spirit can make him to see his faults and to want change and ask for help. You trust in the Holy Trinity to do His work in your step brother and in his son.

He says he's in love, but the signs say no. Is he attracted to his wife? Does he love her? What is going on?

The man has severe trust issues, accusing and distrustful to the point of paranoia.Spouse is mildly overweight, but very attractive.
Man used meth at first, has since been sober 2 years. Both are previously divorced with children from those marriages,no children live with them. Man rarely sees his kids and has a horrible realtionship with his ex. Woman sees child regularly and has an amiacable relationship with ex.The trust issues, sexual dysfunction and his sobreity began within months of each other. They fight often, 90% of those fights centering around the husband's doubts. The woman had a fairly normal single life, but is faithful and genuinely in love. The man's single life was during his meth addiction and centered around sex.He has mostly been with attractive, thin women. He has severe anger control problems and says horrible things during the fights. There is no physical abuse.
He makes no effort at sex,and says its just an "ego thing" to want it from him.Is he just not attracted?

Real love bears fruit. See 1Cor:13. Patience, kindness & trust are some pretty important ingredients in any relationship. Without them your just spinning your wheels. If he doesn't trust her it will hurt her if she stays with him. Take it from someone who hardly ever got the benefit of a doubt for >30yrs. His insecurities WILL become your problem.
Get out as soon as possible or get ready for a life of misery. It's a roller coaster of emotional highs & lows with very little respite. Most people don't change because they're too busy finding someone or something to blame for their problems.
God bless them both.

Dreams and addiction?

I have used Methaphetmine on and off (Def. not addicted, physiclly anways)

Anyways EVERY nite i dream about meth in some way... for the past 20 dreams ive had.

Even i i havent used in months the dreams continue and every nite they have somthing to do with meth (usally me tryingto aqauire it)

Does anyone have any info on what this is, I have heard dreams are the first sign of addiction.

However i havent used in weeks. its just off and on.

Only because you can supress symptoms of addiction during the time you're awake doesnt mean you arent addicted- as your dreams are telling you- find a NAA or AA group to get some perspective.

Meth Myths

Meth has received a large volume of media attention recently, and the topic ranks among the most frequently presented issues at conferences around the country. This has led to the dissemination of a great deal of accurate information. Unfortunately, however, it has also led to the spread of many myths. The information that follows presents a few of the most prevalent meth myths − and the facts.

The Facts: Across research studies with meth, relapse rates appear to be about equal to what is seen in studies of cocaine dependence. For example, in the Methamphetamine Treatment Project, funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), approximately 60 percent of participants reported no methamphetamine use in the previous month and provided a methamphetamine-negative urine sample.

The Facts: There is no data available that details the average length of time between initiation of meth use and death from meth. However, in recent research studies conducted on more than 1,000 methamphetamine users, the average length of time of methamphetamine use for clients prior to entering the treatment study was about 7½ years. This number appears to be consistent across methamphetamine treatment studies. Functional MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans showing brain activity depict areas of low or no activity as holes. These scans depict functional changes, not the actual structure of the brain. In other words, the apparent “holes” in the image indicate areas in the brain that are inactive, not holes in the structure of the brain.
