Just got done reading an amazing article about marijuana myths, and the facts astounded me. The only thing that bothers me is that all my life I've heard that people trace their marijuana with other drugs to make you addicted. Is this true, and if so, how often?
It's called the gateway theory and it has been debunked.

in todays episode i talk about the bullshit that is quot;the gateway theoryquot; in regards to marijuana.
Over the years and even through school I have fought for the truth to be told about marijuana. When I stood up in health class and calmly told my teacher that he was teaching old material that has been proven false by scientific studies I was suspended. Why does society have such a hard time accepting marijuana? Why are we being lied to and why are the FACTS not being told to us?
Scientific breakthroughs have been happening and they are telliong us amazing things about cannibis. So all those lies like marijuana causes braindamage, lung cancer, addiction, and mental illness should be stopped.
Before you go on calling me a liar read these pages, they are all FACTS, backed up by scientific studies

Of course its illegal but I don't see a single imoral thing about it. I've been researching marijuana for years and nothing about it is bad. If it was legalized we could be using hemp instead of trees, oil, cotton, and so much more. And cannabis has played a large role in ancient cultures, and some religions. Even some Christians link cannabis to the bible.
The Netherlands is a wonderful example of what legalization can do for a country. They have been selling marijuana in government run coffee shops and the results are shocking.

Thank you! I've been saying that for the longest time! It's the dumbest thing in the world that marijuana is illegal. And how is it immoral? It's natural, comes from the ground. All you have to do is set in on fire and inhale. Most other drugs have to be made in a lab and you need chemicals and recipes. Your life has to suck pretty bad if you have to inject yourself to feel good and happy. It's so ridiculous how smoking tobacco is more acceptable than smoking marijuana. But then again second hand smoke from marijuana kills 50,000 people a year. And smoking it kills 36,000 people a month, and it causes cheek and gum cancer if you smoke it long enough....no, wait...that's TOBACCO!!! The leading cause of preventable death in the U.S.

i don't get the morality of the story ?
could you help me ?
I think the aim of the video is to demonstrate the effects which certain drugs have on us. Doesn't mention the strong links between
marijuana and schizophrenia or other mental health problems though.

Marijuana does not cause brain damage:
two studies from 1977, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) showed no evidence of brain damage in heavy users of marijuana. That same year, the American Medical Association (AMA) officially came out in favor of decriminalizing marijuana. That's not the sort of thing you'd expect if the AMA thought marijuana damaged the brain.
Marijuana is NOT addicting: marijuana is less addictive than caffeine
Source: Nicotine Addiction, Surgeon General's Report, 1988. In Health magazine in an article entitled, "Hooked, Not Hooked" by Deborah Franklin (pp. 39-52), compares the addictives of various drugs and ranks marijuana below coffeine.
So WHY is it illegal? And WHY don't we make it legal so that the US can actually gain money from tax revenue put on it?
"Why do we need more legal intoxicants? Is this nation not already dopey enough? Your obviously biased and will believe anything you read that favors legalization of 'Dope Weed'."
Well, FatPizza9, at least i read. And not only because of all the benefits medical marijuana can offer to suffering patients, but also because people do it anyway, only illegally.
You're preaching to the choir, Brother. I've been asking myself that for many years. I worked on a coma unit. I've seen what alcohol can do. My Sister's a DA. 100% of the domestic abuse cases that come in are alcohol related. She's been at the job over 20 years, and it's always been the same.
It's not socially acceptable. Laws are made by people over 3 Martini lunches. Go figure.

Thanks for bringing up medicinal marijuana, Josh. I've worked with cancer and MS patients. It would work miracles to help with pain, nausea, appetite, etc. I know several doctors that say they'd prescribe it if they could.
Marijuana costs 400 dollars a pound to produce, but sells for 2500-3000 a pound. It is such a profitable crop to sell and traffic, simply because it's illegal. If it were legalized and regulated (no being noticeably high in public, no driving while intoxicated), the profit margins would be much less, and violent drug cartels wouldn't have nearly as much money from marijuana trafficking and dealing (this absence of profit would NOT be spent on guns, transportation for trafficking other harder drugs, or otherwise furthering their illegal, violent lifestyles.)
Here's a couple excerpts from an article I just read about what happened when Portugal legalized not just marijuana, but other illegal drugs such as cocaine, meth, and heroine.
The paper, published by Cato in April, found that in the five years after personal possession was decriminalized, illegal drug use among teens in Portugal declined and rates of new HIV infections caused by sharing of dirty needles dropped, while the number of people seeking treatment for drug addiction more than doubled.
"Judging by every metric, decriminalization in Portugal has been a resounding success," says Glenn Greenwald, an attorney, author and fluent Portuguese speaker, who conducted the research. "It has enabled the Portuguese government to manage and control the drug problem far better than virtually every other Western country does."

Dancing smurf - Marijuana has never been proven to cause cancer of any kind, actually recently, it has been proven to reduce tumor growth: http://www.reuters.com/article/healthNews/idUSTRE5307VK20090401
It also does not lead to suicide, or paranoia, at least not in the long term. People can be paranoid and anxious while high, but this is often because of a subconscious guilt they feel when they smoke.
None. Unless all drugs were legalised and the production regulated.
You know the strange thing, the drug cartels would not want that. They make money because it is illegal. Legalise is and you drive them out of business!

How To Stop Smoking Pot - Tips to Quit bMarijuana/b
Many people who decided they want to quit marijuana have no idea where to begin. This article discusses some simple steps you can take to begin the journey of quitting marijuana. Take the first step and set a quit date, then write it down!
Set a Date to Stop Smoking Weed.
The purpose of setting a quit date, is to allow yourself to get mentally and physically prepared to quit smoking marijuana. Your quit date should be an actual date. It should not be when your stash runs out, or roughly a week before the next semester of school starts, or next month. It is important to nail down the date. In my personal experience, before I learned to set a date that I would stop, I used to smoke my stash as quickly as possible. I did this because I convinced myself that each bag was my last bag. When my bag ran out, I would buy another one, and smoke it just as quickly, convincing myself that it was also the last bag. Does this sound familiar? I recommend setting your quit date, within one month of the current date. If you wait any longer, you are less likely to follow through with your goal. It is a great idea to set your quit date just before a vacation begins, or other major event. Quitting Marijuana is a lifestyle change. If you attach it to another lifestyle change, you are more likely to be successful. Understand your Addiction.
