So my girl has this addiction to Marijuana, and i would love to help her stop. she wants to stop too but she says, "I want to stop, I can't help it." so I've tried to talk her out of it but it just does'nt seem to be working. what can I do? and Is it possible that this is destroying my relationship with her?

you have to ask yourself - why is it that you want her to quit? does it change her personality while she's with you or have any negative effect on your relationship? or is it just the way that you perceive it as being wrong?

I would say if it doesn't affect your relationship, ie .. she's not to stoned to go out with you and your mates and doesn't act like a mongoloid, or not want sex as she's not in the mood, and it doesn't put her in danger then maybe don't be so hasty to encourage her to quit (unless she really wants to).

if she does want to quit then just give her positive feedback when you head out and she's more "with it" if she's more talkative, liveley say that you notice these things and enforce that her personality without the drug is something that you really enjoy and cherish. with some positive re-inforcement maybe she'll cut down and be able to cut it out all together.

A very close friend has an addiction to marijuana. How can I step in this personal issue? I live in Clarks Green, Pennsylvania. Which government or voluntary or professional group would help me with this?

first try talking to your friend about your issues with this problem and second consider that marijuana doesn't cause a chemical addiction so s/he may just enjoy it and not be addicted, more info would be useful such as how much and how often does your friend smoke?

also it wouldn't be a good idea to bring a government group into the picture on just marijuana because that would screw your friend over for going to college among other things. The best thing to do is talk to your friend in a way that isn't angry but expresses that you're concerned.

the mind wants it, but no other body parts and dependant upon it.

let your mom smoke pot, man. we all smoke pot. my parents and my grandparents smoke weed...and so do a lot of other people's. if you smoked daily for years, you would understand how your tolerance level changes and how there is such a thing as smoking responsibly. she's an adult and she knows what she's doing, i'm sure. don't get the authorities involved, because that is honestly absolute bullsiht. no offense, but that isn't cool at all. if my kid did that to me, i would be very, very pissed off, and i'd feel violated for doing absolutely nothing wrong. if you're that bothered by it, talk to her about it if anything. but really, i think you should try to see that she has every right to smoke pot, and not only that, but be grateful that she's a pothead and not addicted to something else (because weed is literally the best alternative for a recreational substance).
