This is not gambling, porn, or anything other than web cruising and forums. Are there national organizations for internet addiction? Online meetings (the irony is not lost on me)? Other resources?

i have to admit i'm one of those people who stay up late at night just to be online... i need help! T_T my grades are down, and i dont go out more often because of it...

pls. i need advice!!!
its not that i want to quit being online... its just that i dont wanna be addicted anymore...

I used to be just like that, then i moved out of home and couldnt afford the net for over a year, and it really helped me!
I would suggest cutting off your internet connection completely for a while, and deleting all accounts on message boards/livejournal/yahoo (all your regular internet haunts)... after a couple of weeks you will go back and not realise why you loved it so much! good luck!

Thank goodness I stopped using my hair dryer while sleeping, as directed. And I stopped giving my child baby aspirin since he wasn't supposed to drive afterwards.

I think you need to wrok your body off it.
so you like on it for 5-6 hours. make a time for you to only spend 4 hours a day then next week only spend 3 hours. then the week after try spend 2 hours and try and keep it that way.
Two hours is probably a healthy ammount to spend on in a day.

Also if you find you are haveing trouble maybe try hiding the mouse or getting someone else to hide the mouse for you.

Also maybe try finding a hobby like photography or craft.. or a sport? keep your mind out of the computer.!

Yes, there are online discussion boards where you can discuss how long you've gone without getting on the.....oh wait....damnit....

If this is a serious question, you can try the mental health forums, which has a subforum on internet addiction where people discuss moderating their internet usage rather than just going overboard.

I'd really recommend you see a real doctor though who might be able to get you into a real life support group. It will greatly reduce the temptation of overusing the internet if you are not near a computer when discussing your addiction to it.
