1) loss of a real social life
2) disorientation - most people that you socialize with on the internet are not behaving 'normally'
3) poor judgment - in the early days of chatrooms, a lot of people fell in love with strangers. Folks used to say they liked getting to know someone from the inside out. I know of a lot of marriages that ended due to chat, back around 1998 till 2001.
4) being entrapped by law enforcement. Almost everyone chatting on the internet nowadays is either a prostitute, or a law enforcement officer posing as a prostitute. The good part is that this keeps most of the undercover cops off the streets, and puts them in touch with other anti-social people like themselves.
