I think I might be moving back into football/sportscenter addiction and actually reading more books. lol
internet addiction includes YA, 360 and all the rest facebook, myspace, etc etc lol
sex, heroin or alcohol =]
I'm probably asking the wrong audience (!) but can anyone suggest a good book (please no websites!) to help get over internet addiction? maybe even just a book about getting over soft addictions in general?
I am a stay-at-home mom and my poor children are neglected and ignored while i surf for virtually nothing on the internet. (Don't worry, I do leave the computer to feed, diaper, take to school, etc, they aren't in harm's way). I'm checking email every 2 minutes and trying to come up with things to search for or do. HELP!
The Habit Change Workbook: How to Break Bad Habits and Form Good Ones
by James Claiborn , Cherry Pedrick
is an excellent book, it covers all kinds of habitual behaviour, but the idea for each is the same, and gives you a plan to work to.
Well done for recognising you have a problem and good luck!

I have become an addict to the net.First thing I do when I get home is turn on my comp. I rarely read books or do my hobbies anymore, I'd rather check my mails, facebook, youtube etc mostly fooling around doing nothing edifying. Need some help! Any ideas?
find something you like to do, not on the internet. set a timer for an hour or two, then try to limit yourself by 5 minutes less every day.
I am publishing a book Caught in the Net, a story of internet addiction and romance by Sunshine44. I just know that it would make a good movie! Any ideas for someone to write the screen play? etc
Generally, the book has to be popular first (not necessarily a best-seller but a cult-like hit is okay too) before an adaptation is made.
The reason why studios do adaptations is because of business. They like to choose "best-bets"... i.e. things with franchising/built-in fanbase already so it's easy money (a good example of this is Twilight, which I despise btw... this is why famous video games, books, comics, etc are adapted). It's easy to tap money from a potentially obsessive fanbase.
If you think it might work better as film you might want to try to sell your idea to studios/producers/whatever (beware, LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of idea-stealing goes on in Hollywood... my dad used to be a screenwriter) or write a script yourself and try to sell that (generally you "sell" scripts to studios for a fixed price, and sometimes a cut of the movie profits).

Neuroanthropology is a collaborative weblog created to encourage exchanges among anthropology, philosophy, social theory, and the brain sciences. We especially hope to explore the implications of new findings in the neurosciences for our understanding of culture, human development, and behaviour. Results of a meta-analysis: “They discovered that an increased level of perceived discrimination is associated with more negative mental and physical health. In addition, they found that perceived discrimination was associated with heightened psychological and physical stress responses as well as increased participation in unhealthy behaviors.”
