Ever since i was put on xanax and klondpin, things like that. I have devoloped a real bad gambling addiction that i didnt have before.
Hmmm, don't know about xanax, but I haven't had that problem on klonopin. Risperdal has been known to cause gambling problems. Talk to your pdoc.

I think because times are so hard, that they are hoping to win a jackpot to make their lives better. It probably starts out small and then it just becomes an obsession. As bad as the times are here where I live, the casinos are advertising jobs because so many people are gambling just trying to catch a break and win some money to help with the bills. I don't think it is working.
I have a problem with gambling and I have recently quit... but it has only been 2 weeks and the temptation has been very strong lately. I have looked for help groups in my area and there is none that are close so that is not really an option at this point.

Also, you don't have to get a book based on the situation. Pick out anything that you are interested in. The idea is to not be thinking about the problem. Anything that you engross yourself in reading will do that.
Further, not only reading can help you out. Try getting a new hobby or involved more in one you already enjoy.

No. Gambling is generally a bigger problem than people give it credit for, but not with young people.

But look up some stuff on incentive sensitization. It's a really great theory of the pathways in the brain associated with addictions.
There are two pathways--liking (opioid pathways) and wanting (dopaminergic pathways)
It's a theory. There is really no evidence for a particular "brain area" that controls addiction. Lot of theories. though.
And, of course, the frontal lobes are responsible for executive abilities. They are involved in inhibitory control and planned behaviors

Walker’s Gambling Addiction
Antoine Walker is having trouble not only landing a job in the NBA but also a problem with finding a casino in Vegas that will supply his expensive taste in gambling.
