I would, a drug addiction other than public feelings towards you affects you only. A gambling addiction on the other hand, although does not affect you physically, affects you and your family financially.
Unfortunately, any addiction can be crippling to a family. No addiction is any "better" than an other. Most family members are surprised and confused by any addiction and feel that they are unable to help. Ultimately, an addiction can ruin a person's life and thier family along with it. If you recognise that one of your family has any kind of addiction, it's up to you to try and get some kind of help, as the person with the addiction, rarely thinks that anything is wrong..
Stuart has a long history of addictive behaviour, particularly problem gambling. Now receiving counselling through GamCare ( www.gamcare.org.uk ...
I know that it has to do w/ that fact that the States and cities make a ton of money on gambling, but i think they should be putting more money into treating the addiction.
It makes no difference that there's a substance involved in drugs or alcohol. The public doesn't realize that. The addiction is the part where you get high, whether it's from alcohol, drugs, or gambling.
Because, alcohol and drugs are substances....gambling is an action.....
Substances are more related to health issues than activities themselves...

So i really need some HELP in how to deal with this. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME.
Since posting this question, i have finaly got my friend to addmit that he has problem and needs help. You are so right he does need me, but i'm worried that i can't give him the help he needs.
If your friend is over 18. You can only try to talk to him, keep him occupied as much as possible, and be very supportive in regards to other hobbies he might have. Also, you may want to consider getting some brochures or information from local gamblers support groups.
I have a friend who's always gambling his money away. He's always thinking about gambling too. I think he's got a gambling addiction and I want to know how to find treatment centers that he can look into so that he'll get treated. However, I haven't convinced him to get himself treated yet. Any ideas?
Does anybody else know of your friend's gambling addiction? His parents, maybe? It might be easier to convince him if you do an intervention. Gather his closest friends and family members and make him see what he's doing to himself.
I don't know if there are treatment centers in Greensburg that address issues of gambling. However, here are some links that may be able to help you out. You can also contact your local health services administration and inquire. Asking hospital staff may yield some results too. Good luck!
I'm making a research about gambling and its effects on those who are addicted to it. I would like to get information from those who are adept at dealing with this kind of disorder, hence the search for addiction treatment centers.
The links below will surely get to help you in your search. You can also look through the local yellow pages, or ask for a list from doctors or healthcare providers. Good luck! I do wish you get all the information that you need. :)

Does Video Game Play Lead to bGambling Addiction/b? | GamePolitics
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Adelaide has linked regular video game play to gambling addiction.
Australia's ABC News reports on comments by Paul Delfabbro of the University's school of psychology. Delfabbro's team studied more than 2,500 Australian teens and found that more than half admitted to gambling within the preceding 12 months. Delfabbro commented on his findings:
If you look at those young people who are classified as pathological gamblers you will find that they do have a higher frequency of involvement with many different types of videogame. They're much more likely to play games on Xboxes and similar consoles. They are also more likely to play arcade games...
Some young people who don't have a lot of structured activities in their life... what they'll often do is spend very large amounts of time playing videogames or often be more likely to be the ones who go off to street venues to play arcade games.
Being in a gang is a structured activity, right? Let's get all these teens out of those totally random arcades and casinos and into the friendly social environs of a mafia family!
...bGambling/b vs. drug baddiction/b. What is your opinion?
I work at a Casino, in the Spa, doing massage therapy. We had a mandatory meeting about “responsible gambling” and how we are supposed to handle the topic with our clients. Here is what got me–the speaker posed this question– “True or false, it is easier to spot a drug addict/alcoholic addiction then a person with a gambling addiction.”
Answer? she said “ true .” I said “ not true .” She asked me why. I said, “because addiction, any addiction follows the same path, runs the same course, AA, NA, GA, SA, EA,–they all have the same program for the simple reason–the signs are the same. You see the signs, you know what you are looking at– addiction .
Was my answer wrong? She said I was wrong, and she also said a gambling addiction is financially more devastating, because it is all about money. Well, depends on what you see...
