I'm making a research about gambling and its effects on those who are addicted to it. I would like to get information from those who are adept at dealing with this kind of disorder, hence the search for addiction treatment centers.
The links below will surely get to help you in your search. You can also look through the local yellow pages, or ask for a list from doctors or healthcare providers. Good luck! I do wish you get all the information that you need. :)
A movie I recently made for an English Class giving some statistics about gambling addictions
My brother's always gambling his money away. He incessantly asks our parents for money and then he just uses it so he could gamble. He would make up a variety of excuses to explain where the money went and my parents actually believe him. I think I'm now ready to tell my parents about what he really does. I also want to find treatment centers that can deal with his case. How?
I'm so sorry about what has happened to your brother. I think it would be right to let your parents know about this. Oftentimes, gambling addiction leads not only to problems of a financial nature, but also causes various psychological problems for family members and other people close to the addict. I think it would take more than just a little coaxing to get your brother accept the fact that he indeed has a problem with his gambling. As for finding an addiction treatment center, below are links that can help you find one. You can also ask your parents to take your brother to a psychologist. The psychologist will surely help you out in finding treatment centers. Good luck!
I'm really lucky I haven't lost money overall - I'm ahead a fair junk of change! I started hitting the roulette wheel just over a week ago and hit a lucky streak. But I'm betting big amounts and I keep going back to it even though I know I should just quit while I'm ahead. I Just need a site where I can talk about this thing for free and stop before lose my shirt!

I recently stumbled upon a blog site (http://www.gamblinganon.blogspot.com), and the blogger claims that gambling is an addiction and not a disease so anyone can quit. I was always taught that my gambling addiction was caused by chemical mix ups in my brain making me more impulsive?
An addiction is a disease.
It is the brain giving priority to the addiction, over free will and possibly even over self-preservation.

You call that gambling?
In India gambling is supposed to be illegal. If I am right no casinos are allowed in India. Though there are quite a lot of illegal “gambling institutions” out there who manage to keep things going by paying off the right guys…Recently, when the IPL was in progress, one of the ministers objected to the way BCCI had put up its SMS campaign. This set me to think a little bit for myself…and this is what I came out with:

If slot machines and poker is gambling – so is Lottery tickets and all those “buy one and stand a chance to win”… or “collect the right combination and stand a chance to win”… campaigns. Let us compare – in a slot machine or in poker you place your money against a promise that if the right combination appears – which is totally left to chance (I am not sure 1 in how many) you will get your money back with a bonus on top; but if the combination does not appear – then the house takes your money.
