Ever since i was put on xanax and klondpin, things like that. I have devoloped a real bad gambling addiction that i didnt have before.
Hmmm, don't know about xanax, but I haven't had that problem on klonopin. Risperdal has been known to cause gambling problems. Talk to your pdoc.
A movie I recently made for an English Class giving some statistics about gambling addictions
or just any addictions for that matter. or where would i find this information besides google, i need it to be accurate
to verona Q and everyone else i don't have a gambling addiction. i'm still in highschool, its for an article i'm writing.
The whole thing. No lie.
But look up some stuff on incentive sensitization. It's a really great theory of the pathways in the brain associated with addictions.
There are two pathways--liking (opioid pathways) and wanting (dopaminergic pathways)
It's a theory. There is really no evidence for a particular "brain area" that controls addiction. Lot of theories. though.
And, of course, the frontal lobes are responsible for executive abilities. They are involved in inhibitory control and planned behaviors
I am 43 and she is 39....And I just need something to read to help me cope with the problems that come with her addictions....She still my little sister and I love her..and I don't want to lose her.
Any kind of resources will be helpfull..
She is a mean drunk...and then she doesn't remember most of the things she says and does after she's sober.
Co-Dependant No More
I'm just curious you hear it here and there, but i've never really understood being addicted to gambling. I mean, like with most drugs and other additives theres usually a substance like tobacco, but i don't really get it when it comes to gambling.
It's an impulse-control disorder. Usually this type of disorder develops at a very young age and applies to taking a risk in order to seek some sort of gain. Casino gamers and stock traders are typical of this type of disorder although it can cover a broad range of activities.
High school sweethearts, share 1yr old child.
He keeps saying he wants to change.
He is addicted to pot, binge drinking and gambling + recently started dabling in steroids. He lies to cover things up.
He's unstable-financialially and emotionally.
When is the right time to say thats enough?
It's been going on for years but i find it hard to turn away when he offers some kind of hope.
You find it hard to turn away because you are his enabler.
He has his problems - in fact lots of them - but the fact that you don't care how many lines he crosses is your problem.
The truth is that the further down that road of addiction he goes, the harder it is for him to turn around and come back. Most don't even make it a few steps back, most just keep going down that road.
You have an absolute innocent child - she needs your protection. Be her enabler and turn your back on your ex.
If you have to, write down a list of things he has to do to be in your and your daughter's life - sober for 1 year, agree to random drug testing by you, job for 8 months, regular child support payment - even if it's $20 into a college fund, etc.
Then he's a man able to participate in life.
Give him a copy of this list and keep a copy for yourself. Whenever you find yourself slipping back to him, look at your list and your daughter.
Good luck - get professional help if you need to find the strength to break away.

bGambling Addiction/b Enabler: UFC 102
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira(I will pick anyone over captain contract)
Thiago Silva (+130) (by total destruction)
Demian Maia (+157) (by absolute clinic ass BJJ)
Krzysztof Soszynski (+175) (by knocked stiff and twitching)
Chris Leben (-135) (by redheaded stepchild whipping)
Gabriel Gonzaga (-345) (tapout due to mean mugging)
vs. Mike Russow (-260) (just cause Ben says so )
Agreed with the guy who pointed out Rosholt is a stupid pick here. With the exception of Jason MacDonald, who has much better jiu-jitsu than Rosholt, all of Leben's UFC losses have come against people who outstruck him. Rosholt doesn't have a chance in hell of outstriking Leben, and it's pretty hard to set up takedowns if you can't land a punch first.
the article writer is garbage and really has no idea what the fuck hes talkin about.mccully junk ?thats funny shit, your moms pussys junk, your car/house is junk, your boyfriends junk.lol put some money up bitch you got my email 100 200 500 whatever, lets make it happen so i can take your money.you got balls or your stupid cuz he aint the one to talk shit on tuff guy.
Close Call Counts: Neuroscience of bGambling Addictions/b: Scientific b.../b
Close but no cigar, the saying goes. But new research shows that when it comes to gambling, the human brain seems to take a very different approach. In our head, near misses, such as a lottery ticket just one number away from the jackpot, are interpreted as wins.
Using functional MRI, Luke Clark of the University of Cambridge and his colleagues looked at the brains of 15 volunteers who were playing a computerized slot machine. Unsurprisingly, wins activated the players’ reward system, whereas complete misses did not. When the wheel stopped just one position from the pay line, however, the reward system of volunteers’ brains got excited the same way it did after a win—there was much activity in the striatum and the insula, areas involved in reinforcing behavior with positive feedback.
This type of reinforcement makes sense in behaviors that involve actual skill, such as target shooting, because a sense of reward provides encouragement to keep practicing, Clark says. “A near miss in a game of chance doesn’t mean that you are getting better,” he notes, yet it seems that the brain mistakenly activates the same type of reinforcement learning system in these situations.
