I'm a 21 year old male i'm in great shape and I have a very fast metabolism so I don't gain any weight no matter what I eat, but I know that one day my bad eating habits are going to catch up to me and I'm going to be 300lbs because of my terrible diet, how can I break my addiction to junk food? I have tried before but it didn't last to long, obviously.
I totally get it. Quitting cold turkey is too hard for me. Here is a simple method I used.
Make a list of the things that you want to change in your diet. It is important that the list is written and then put in a place where you will see it every day. These are the things that you are going to change.
Pick one item to change and put a check mark next to it. Over the next couple of weeks you will develop a habit without feeling deprived. Every couple of weeks check off another item. You don’t have to check them off in any particular order.
Your list will be different. My list started off like this:
1. Deep fried food
2. Salt shaker
3. Refined sugar
4. Refined flour
5. Caloric drinks
6. Red meat < 1 x week
7. Fruit every day
Gradually you can make small changes that will get you the results you want. Go for it.

Even though I'm 13, my junk food addiction is macaroni and cheese, McDonalds, and ice cream!! :(... So sad... Now, I need to lose weight..:(
Yes it is... In my house, it is... Fruit and Vegetables are the only thing that is not Junk Food..
That's normal being a teen. I craved cheeseburgers from McDonald's, tacos, and popcorn balls.
If you need to lose weight, eat these foods in moderation. Your a teen you should worry about your weight just enjoy eating that stuff now because as you get older your metabolism slows down.
Well basically im trying to stay on a diet and i need to get over junk food, or replace it with healthy food or something i don't know, because that is the only think stopping me from losing my weight
Please help i need to get over this addiction, at the rate im going it could kill me one day!
The best thing to do is find healthy options that still taste sweet, but are more nutritious than junk food (obviously) and carry less calories.
Whenever I am tempted to eat something sweet and sugary like a cookie, I have a small handful of raisins. They taste so sweet that I don't crave that cookie when I am done.
Also a very very important thing to do is drink LOTS of water. Often times when you feel hungry, you are really just dehydrated. Dehydration causes you to reach for sugars and starches to give you the energy your body is lacking from water. Drink a big glass of water and see how you feel.
Stock up on sweet, sugar-free gum like Orange Trident. A piece of this gum after I have dinner makes it so I don't crave dessert. I have something mindless and sweet to chew on, so my mouth is busy, and I don't need to stuff junk food in.
If you are craving something salty like chips, have a small hand of salted peanuts. They taste SUPER salty and your craving will be satisfied while providing your body with protein needed to build muscle.
Junk food really is an addiction. Your body becomes addicted to the fats and sugar. Studies in lab rats show that sugar addictions mimics that of cocaine addictions!! So don't beat yourself up over it. It will take time before you stop craving it.
Remember: Drink lots of water, stock up on sugarless sweet-tasting gum, find a healthy treat (such as raisins) that will curb sugar cravings. Keep bad foods you are tempted to indulge in OUT of the house. If they are not there, you wont be able to eat them. Eat something before going to the grocery store to shop--that way you wont be ravenous with hunger and stock up on sweet and starchy things.
Also be sure you are working out as well. Cardio and light weights. Your body will burn extra calories while you are just sitting around watching TV if you have muscle because those calories are needed to maintain muscle.
Hope I helped!
I really want to start eating healthy. All I eat anymore is junk food and I know I need to stop. I have tried many times to cut out cookies and candybars out of my diet but it's really hard and I end up only getting worse. All the Halloween candy I have doesn't help the situation either. What should I do in order to eat healthy and keep it that way.
Well, you need to do a couple things.
1) Take all the candy in your house and throw it in the trash (because if you knew how it was made, you'd know that it roughly equates to trash), or give it to your neighbors. It cannot stay in your house.
2) Gather all your cookies and junk food (that means soda to) and take it to your nearest homeless shelter.
3) Do an inventory of the food in your place and make a list of foods that you will need. They should include eggs to make breakfast, cereal, fresh fruit, and veggies. If you don't know how to cook, pickup a "Cooking for Dummies" book.
4) Realize that eating junk food is the slowest way we know of to commit suicide in the US. While dying of lung cancer as a smoker is not a certainty, dying of a heart attach or diabetes is assured when you are stuffing your face with junk. Consider what the last moments of your life will be like. Will you regret eating Krispy Kream donuts? I suspect you will.
5) Allocate 30 minutes that cannot be interrupted FOR ANY REASON each day where you will exercise. Get into the habit of snacking on healthy food frequently.
If you can keep up a healthy diet (maybe even look into the Zone Diet) for 2 weeks, you will stop craving junk food, I'm serious. It is also way cheaper, and you will be more likely to get a date on a Friday night with someone who is not morbidly obese (mmmm sexy).
I have junk food for every meal pretty much, I can eat 3 boxes of movie theatre candy and still go for more. I'm 16 and I'm not fat or anything, but I don't play any sports and I'm starting to break out alot. I've never gone a day without junk for as long as I can remember
How can I stop?
you need lots of whole fruits and vegetables as well as fiber to clean out your digestive tract. once all the toxins are out of your system you will crave healthy things more and junk less. the toxins in your digestive system actually make you crave junk food. the presence of nutrients in your system makes one want the healthier choices.
