How does one overcome cocaine addiction?

I am a professional, I am in law school but I am addicted to cocaine. It happened 3 years ago after a break up, before which I had never touched drugs. I want so bad to stop and need to hear from someone who understands!

I just got another stint with cocaine. Sadly, you'll never be clear from the grips of cocaine. And, sadly still, until something happens that dramatically changes your view of the drug, you'll continue using.

It sounds like you're crying out for help, but in the same token not willing to quit but rather hear advice and keep it in mind for future use. That future use will probably never come, either. I've been there, I cried out to anyone who would listen but when they told me the obvious of just nutting up and quitting, I disregarded it and continued using. So, you're crying out but I bet you're not willing to stop.

The way I see it is this: I stopped because I was aging my 60 year old parents way beyond what they've ever wanted. I was destroying my parents, was destroying my girlfriend, the trust from everyone. I didn't stop for myself, I stopped for them. And, a month and a half later, I feel great. I don't crave because I remember what snorting a half gram line feels like after a day and a half of 14 prior grams. It's hell. Literally two seconds of euphoria, then an hour of thinking whether or not I was going to die. My "going out" consisted of 45 grams in a month. 35 in the first two weeks, then 10 in the last two weeks because I was so fucking sick of the shit I just kept doing it because I had it.

My advice is to wean yourself off. Sounds ridiculous from one addict to another, and just another reason to continue using, but I weaned myself off partly because I'd done so much I'd literally snorted myself to normal brain chemical balances and sobriety. It was the same being high and the same sober, and I chose sobriety because it's obviously a lot less harmful than cocaine. Wean yourself. Whatever you do now, cut it in half. Go another week. Two weeks. A month. Don't increase a DAMN thing. When you honestly can finish up what you have and not feel the need to immediately rush out and buy more, use that as a quitting step off. Delete the number for your connection, and try from your mind. Ha, I still have my dealer's number memorized.

I would suggest that, and then see where you're at. The reason I'm not jumping on you about addiction and all that nonsense is that one cannot be forced to find help, they need the reason to really look at themselves and say "I need this". If you're keeping your life together and feel happy with and without cocaine in your life, it's going to be a tough habit to kick man, straight up. I would say rehab right fucking now, as it changes a lot of people who think they will not be helped, but I don't think your mind set is anywhere near even thinking about an option like that.

Wean yourself. Say the popular "this is my last sack" and stick to it. The worst part about it is you're going to have huge cravings. Three years and you've learned to live on it. Once you quit, if you can, and if you get cravings, go fuck a girl. And bang and bang and bang her. All day man. I'm suggesting a filthy addiction to be filled for a current vile addiction, but it's less harmful and it will help get you away from the cravings. The sex is temporary: I used it for two weeks to get myself away, and I feel damn good now man. Sober.

Of course, this is all of my experience and "by the book" methods of dealing with addiction include the cliche 12 step groups and intensive out patient or in patient rehab.

Good luck brother.

How did you overcome crack cocaine addiction?

Looking for any information on how to successfully recover from crack cocaine addiction.
Personal experiences, public statistics, treatment referrals, resources sites, information on medication...any input is appreciated.

It is very difficult to do on your own. A very close person to me was a crack addict, has been to rehab more than once and it was the only way to make him stop for a while. He is off it now and I hope he stays that way. He used "Rivea" for a while, a medicine to block the receptors of cocaine effect and I think he was on anti-depressants too.

Yes saw the show on the History Channel extremelt interesting - fascinating that you were able to purchase drugs which are illegal today throgh a mail order catalog.

well most ppl who study him know when his period of addiction was. At the time no one knew outright what we know coke does today. To them it was like a miracle drug (that is how it was supposed to go down) But 10 years down the road they realized what the deal was. Makes u wonder about todays drugs?? I seen this show on the history channel that went through the history of drugs in America. Everyone should see it. Things are not what they appear to be presently.
