My childhood friend begged me to help him find one since he is a self confessed drug dependent and he wants to change for good. Please, help me...:(
Well, aside from establishing contact with the nearest health clinic or accompanying your friend to a specialist for proper consultation, you can simply check out the links below and see what they have in store for you and your friend. I honestly wish you'll have the help that you are looking for.
Good luck!
Bernie Groshman, Founder and CEO of Treatment-Centers.net plea to Charlie Sheen to use his celebrity and media attention to educate the world ...
I want to do this because I have lost people to drugs and alcohol. For a time, I was consumed by my hatred for those substances. Then I realized that I shouldn't be angry. I should be doing something to curb the spreading of drug and alcohol addiction. This is why I want to find addiction treatment centers. I'd like to become an addiction counselor to help other people.
The world certainly needs more people like you. I'm glad that you want to do this. Do you have a background in psychology? That would really help, although I think they would require you to take up a program first regarding addiction counseling.
The links below will help you in finding addiction treatment centers. I do hope that you get to reach your goal. Good luck!

Friends of mine have an adult child who has already been through short term drug and alcohol rehab (2 weeks to 30 days) treatments, only to relapse. He needs longer term treatment to address the psychological problems associated with addiction; but like millions of other Americans he has no insurance.
Is anyone aware of any long term treatment centers that may help him?
Having just had a loved one go through this I know it can be incredibly tough. I do know that there are programs in Southern California that are long term - I believe that one is called Sobriety House in Orange County - that are truly not for profit and really do have long term - a year or so - and are very strict. You have to take the MMPI (Minnasota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) and go through significant testing first, but it is free. The other thing is that - and this is really sad - court ordered drug treatment is usually done at no cost. If this person hits bottom and ends up in the system they may be in a better position to get help. The family can't save him if he won't help himself. I would also call the county to ask about resources. Good luck, I know that it can be incredibly tough.
I would really like to become an addiction counselor someday. I have lost a lot of people in my life to alcohol or drug addiction and it really hurt me so. This is what made me realize that I would like to help a lot of addicts get their life back. This way, I would also be saving their loved ones from a lot of pain. I want to find addiction treatment centers so that I may be able to know what are the things I must do so that I will be qualified to become a counselor.
Having a background in psychology will help you immensely. I think you will also have to undergo a program regarding addiction counseling before you become qualified to become an addiction counselor. The second link that I have included below will get to help you in finding treatment centers. Just ask them for the requirements and while you're at it, you could probably ask the counselors there about their experience so you would know what to expect.
Good luck! I really hope that you get to achieve this dream. We need lots more people like you in this world.
I need to get a lot of information regarding various addictions (such as alcohol, illegal drugs, prescription drugs, gambling) and I want to get the info directly from the persons who are experiencing these addictions. That's why I would like to find addiction treatment centers. Can somebody help me with this?
It's pretty easy to find addiction treatment centers. The links that I have included below can help you. I don't think that you can interview the patients, though. Addiction treatment centers can be really strict when it comes to the privacy of the patients. You might have to settle for interviewing the therapists and counselors. You can also get a lot of information from the Internet or join a forum that happens to be a support network for once-addicts or those who are addicts.
