I was just wondering how I could possibly beome an addiction counselor at an alcohol rehab. If someone can give me information, as well as how to find alcohol rehabs, that would be really great.

Wow. It's really good that you want to become an addiction counselor. I suggest that you look through the links that I have included below and ask around at various rehabs about what their requirements are for addiction counselors. I think you have to take up some courses first before you become eligible to be a counselor. I do hope that you succeed in attaining this goal of yours. It would get to help a lot of people. :)

Hi

My husband is an alcoholic and has started going for counselling. I think that he needs rehab and I wondered if there are any in the UK that you don't have to pay for as we cant afford it. Any help and advice would be great.

go cold turkey once and see how it is
get alot of chewing gum , cause you'll need it
and get some lollipops, or hard candy or something
get something else to keep your mouth busy
and involve yourself more in your family, relationship, friends
anything.
get a friend to help you through withdrawl.
it'll make it easier.
you might gain some weight, cause withdrawl=eating
but its okay, its worth it

My teenage niece lives with me, since my sister (her mom) travels abroad. My sister doesn't know about her daughter's alcohol addiction, and I don't know how I'm going to tell her. I want my niece to undergo alcohol rehab, but I haven't tried talking to her yet. What am I to do?

Well, you should start by talking to her and her mom. Get in touch with her mom and tell her about the problem you're experiencing with your niece. Have your sister talk to her daughter. Maybe then you would be able to get your niece to agree to undergoing treatment. Staging an intervention with her mother would probably prove to be more effective. If you know other sober people, such as your niece's close friends, it would be great if you can get them to participate in the intervention as well. We all know that teenagers are more likely to listen to their friends rather than relatives, so getting her friends to persuade her would be a big help.

Alcohol really have some nasty effects on individuals. Some of the most well-known effects include liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, alcoholic dementia, heart disease, nutritional deficiencies. Many instances have been recorded which shows that alcohol affects one's sexual capacity, and, at times even leading to death.

Alcohol dependency also affects one's marriage and social life. Some lose their job, their hard-earned money, even their dreams. And we know too well of violence against women and children committed by drunk individuals. Clearly, the liquid can be a very dangerous substance when gobbled down too much. I hope your friend realize this before it gets too late.
