I'm recovering from alcohol addiction.. Question about relapse?

I'm recovering from alcohol addiction.. Question about relapse?
I've been sober since October 3 after drinking heavily for 2 years. I'm enjoying my sobriety but because of my addictive personality, i know i am gonna eventually relapse sooner or later. When i first got sober the nurse gave me librium because i was suffering bad withdrawals, so my question is will i get the withdrawals back immediately after relapse or will it take many months of drinking again to get those same withdrawals....

i hope my question makes. thanks in advance to those who take the time to answer :)

You should congratulate yourself. Also you may not eventually go back to alcohol. Try now to really enjoy the sobriety and also find some natural highs such as running, yoga or ways to turn inside spiritually. If you build these up the "need" for alcohol will be replaced by something healthier and more uplifiting.

Been getting some questions about this topic lately.

Do you think it would be good to have a category for questions about drug and/or alcohol addiction on Y!A ?

I have suggested that YA adds a category for people seeking answers about, or help with/ drug and alcohol addiction. I think an anonynmous forum such as YA provides would be excellent for people seeking answers or help, especially young people who may be afraid to talk to their parents or others about it. What do you think? If you agree, maybe you could give me a "thumbs up" on my suggestion to help it get noticed by the powers that be.

Thank you for your time and attention on this vital issue.
Thanks to all who answered. I had hoped for far more feedback, but everything happens like it is supposed to I guess...

I very seriously doubt Y!A would do it, but I think its a great idea! I think it would be great for ppl to talk freely about their addictions. I gave you a thumbs up, I hope Y!A will consider it.

I have some questions about alcohol addiction?

I have asked before but never got a positive answer. I have been drinking pretty frequently for around 4 months. For around the past 2-3 it has been around 5 days a week. I usually drink between 6 and 12 beers a night and only beer. When i don't drink I feel much better but fear the withdrawls, should I be worried about withdrawls? If I won't have severe symptoms I can quit but I am so worried about it after reading up on it.
I also suffer from anxiety and have had some instances that are signaling that it is time to stop drinking..
wow man stopping smoking is something I would like to accomplish one day and quitting meth had to be hell, I just try need to stay out of the "college life" and get on with my studies.
Oh no I have always had terrible anger problems and now everyone just thinks I am completely psycho because of the way I act when I drink. I just become fearless and basically...psycho and I have injured myself many times over the past few months punching things and breaking everything.
Thanks for the information! You all have really eased my anxiety about the whole quitting thing. Websites don't really specify about how long you have to drink or about the amounts to cause withdrawl. Thanks alot though I feel alot better about it, and now feel I have no reason to avoid it any longer.

It takes many years of heavy drinking before one becomes physically addicted. After only 5 months you won't be suffering withdrawals.

Alcohol addiction question?

How is Alcohol Physically and Mentally addictive?

Physically it replaces certain chemicals in your body. Your body stops producing those chemicals and needs the alcohol to keep going.

Mentally people feel they need it to be cool, or have a good time, or to be happy, so it becomes a habit.

My boyfriend of over a year is just starting to withdrawl from alcohol and says doesn't want to talk to or see anyone right now. I now he needs his space but I would like for him to at leas let me know what is going and make sure he is ok. Has anyone ever been with someone who is recovering from alcohol addiction do things completly change.

Yes my husband. keep an eye on your man please my husband quit drinking a year ago but he had no way of being able to handle his problems without substance and attempted suicide.I just needed to warn you about that no one warned me I found him and revived him but now has severe brain damage. So anyway to answer your question my husband took campral to stop the cravings, so get him to see his doctor for a prescription.

  • Some Basic Questions About Alcohol Addiction Treatment Answered

People who are going through alcohol addiction treatment have a lot of questions in their mind, but they do not really know who to ask. Treatment might prove meaningless if you have an issue with the process that you cannot get clarified. The following are some of the questions that most people have about alcohol addiction treatment, and their answers. But in the US, the meaning of alcohol treatment is to completely bring the person out of the dependency for the substance. The intention of the program is to make the patient recover fully. This is definitely not an easy thing to do. While programs in Europe, for example, will believe that a person is out of alcohol addiction if they are brought to a lower level of dependency, programs in the US will consider themselves a success only if the person has totally stopped using the substance in question. The first phase of alcohol treatment is the intervention program where the patient is convinced to go through the treatment process. Most centers...
