How long does alcohol addiction last?

I've had alcohol problem and i quit drinking months ago, but i'm still getting cravings. I thought once you go cold turkey these feelings would stop after a matter of weeks! How long does it usually take for an addiction to go before you can start drinking again?

You can't. An addiction like this is something you can learn to control, but never get rid of. If you ever drink again, it is most likely that you will succumb to your addiction again and end up where you were all those months ago. You may feel those cravings on and off for the rest of your life.

When you do a program like Alcoholics Anonymous, they explain all of this to you. Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic, whether you ever touch the booze again or not. Your choice is between being a non-drinking alcoholic or not. Unfortunately, you can't just wait for the addiction to pass, like a cold, and then go back to your old ways and not expect to still be addicted.

I'd advise you to get help, if you're having trouble staying sober.

How long will recovery from addiction take?

I have a friend who is going to get himself treated for his alcohol addiction. How long would it be until he recovers? When will he be able to get out of rehab?

Recovery from addiction is actually a life-long process. This is because addiction is a chronic illness and the patient is susceptible to going into relapse. As for the treatment, how long it would take will have to depend upon the needs of your friend and how he responds to the treatment program.

Why does it take so long for an individual to recover from drug or alcohol addiction?

It's so easy and fast for them to get addicted and yet it takes such a long time to get over the attachment to the drug/alcohol. Why is this so?

Addiction recovery happens to be a process that may take a lifetime. This is due to the fact that drug or alcohol addiction is a chronic illness. Recovery does not stop with a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program. That is only the start of it. Once the person comes back to the outside world, he will once again be faced with a lot of temptations that he will have to keep struggling against. Certain measures must be taken so that the individual won't get addicted again. It takes a lot of discipline and willpower. Having a network of support will be very helpful too.

Alcohol addiction...?

I want to know what happens when you get alcohol poisoning? Is it possible to have a seizure? If you are taken to the hospital for it what do they do for you and how long do you stay there? Any information would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible. Thanks much.
Lol no I'm not that stupid...I just need to know for something I am writing. It involves alcohol poisoning and I can't find any details about it anywhere.

They usually pump your stomach and fill it with a coal like substance. You there for a couple of days and it is possible to have seizures.
